Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Church is transformed from rock club to performing-arts theater when John Cameron Mitchell’s acclaimed glam-rock musical Hedwig And The Angry Inch takes up a three-night residence there. The story of an aspiring East German transgender singer named Hedwig nee Hansel who endures a botched sex change operation, unappreciative fellow musicians, and many more undignified obstacles on her way to rock-and-roll superstardom first premiered in 1998, and has since been made into a cult-followed film. Boston’s Gene Dante (the Future Starlets) and Lisa van Oosterum star. Church hosts an open-to-the-public Hedwig after-party with DJ/VJ Craig MacNeil each of the three nights.
Gene Dante and Lisa van Oosterum star as Hedwig and Yitzhak, reprising their roles from the acclaimed 2000–2003 Boston production of this glam-rock musical about the Cold War. Jim Collins, Erik Andersen, Adam Amoroso and Tamora Gooding play the other members of Hedwig’s band, with Collins doubling as the music director. Michael Messer helms the production.
