Senate Candidates Scrape For Dough
Setti Warren will report raising $122,000 for the just-ended 2nd quarter, in just under two months since he launched his campaign. A spokesperson tells me they think that's a "strong start," while Warren's been focusing mainly on meeting and speaking with Democratic committees, and trying to raise his name recognition, and so on.
Bob Massie has announced that he'll report raising $82,000 for the quarter, giving him $85,000 cash on hand.
Update: Tom Conroy will report raising $61,000, in less than a month since announcing his candidacy.
Someone with the Alan Khazei campaign tells me he'll be reporting "very healthy numbers" for the quarter -- "well above" Warren's 122k.
Let's lay out the caveats, which are true: this is the start of a long campaign, with a bunch of relatively unknown candidates, facing a popular and well-funded Republican incumbent, and most activists and funders still waiting to see who else might run.
All that said.... I don't think Warren Tolman, or anybody else, is going to look at these reports and be afraid to jump in.
