WFNX announces Freeform Friday & Flashback Weekend + Duane Bruce unearths a Porno For Pyros bootleg

Say what you will about becoming a Company Man or whatever, but this is awesome news from our very own radio station. WFNX today announced tomorrow's FREEFORM FRIDAY, November 11, and its upcoming FLASHBACK WEEKEND which soundtracks your Thanksgiving weekend, November 23 to 27.

Essentially, Freeform Friday is when the station allows the DJs to play whatever the hell they want. Novel concept, I know, but shit -- last time around I drove home from Phoenix HQ to a double shot of At The Drive In's "One Armed Scissor" into Ride's "Dreams Burn Down." F.F.F., F.F.S.!!!

And in less than two weeks, this year's Flashback Weekend brings back to beautiful and scenic Lynn former hosts Morning Guy Tai, X-Night's Mike Gioscia, and two gentlemen I have infinite respect for, the legendary Kurt St. Thomas and sudden bootleg maven Duane Bruce.

So in honor of Flashback Weekend, I'm gonna get all Hotline Lazy and post official deets from the presser after the jump, which in this case is a December 1992 set from PORNO FOR PYROS at the WFNX Best Music Poll. Boston radio station 101.7 WFNX will invite many of their past hosts and shows back onto the airwaves to kick off this holiday season. The playlist, production and voices will all take listeners back ten, fifteen, even twenty years into the WFNX archives. The Flashback weekend will kick off Wednesday November 23rd at 7pm and culminate on Sunday, November 27th.

Fans and media historians alike with be treated to live, new shows featuring Morning Guy Tai with Henry Santoro, a live X-Night with legendary host Mike Gioscia, Spin Cycle with Liquid Todd, and on-air shifts featuring Storm Zbel, Kurt St. Thomas, Kat Corbett, Neal Robert, Joanne Doody, Bill Abbate, Duane Bruce, Boy Troy, and many more.

“Reuniting with friends and spending time with family is what Thanksgiving is all about,” said Paul Driscoll, Program Director for WFNX. “This weekend we welcome back some old friends and family as we reflect on the storied past of WFNX. Without them we would not be what we are today.”
