The dawn of so-called 'frat-rap' is upon us, or so I'm told. Better yet - I hear that Greater Boston is the hub of this semi-surreal misogynistic hipster-hop spin-off movement.
If that's indeed the case, then it's important to celebrate all the college-styled party cats who came before Asher Roth and Sam Adams, and who opened doors for this sort of thing.
Here in the commonwealth, we've always had fresh MCs with degrees who are all about campus vagrancy. You can't mention frat-rap without mentioning Mic Stylz.
Which brings me to that mighty North Shore trio, The Camp. Dese, Grime, and Excetera each came up on the battle circuit, and, album-wise, have dropped four heaters in the past four years - plus side projects. They'll also teach you rookies how to smash shows.
The Camp's latest finds them putting 'bitches in cuffs like Professor Gates,' as usual, and smacking beats like they do the little chumps who came after them. What I'd do to see Mac Miller and his legionnaires face off against any of these dudes.
