How a soul sample evolves from a Mr. Lif banger to a hit Jay-Z record and beyond...

It all started with a sweet old soul grab from The Moments' "Love on a Two Way Street." It was a mere kernel, but man was there potential...

In time, Florida's Asamov found the dusty vinyl, performed surgery, and had Boston's Mr. Lif get up on it. One of the Perceptionist's dopest verses ever, for sure....

Not surprisingly, since cats get jacked regularly, Jay-Z (along with producer Al Shux) co-opted the Asamov joint - and asked Alicia Keys for her blessing to ensure that legions of morons would defend the establishment when underground cats came crying foul...

Finally - since no national single should go un-localized - Mass producer the Arcitype recruited ViceVersah and some other cats to rip a "Bay State of Mind" version. Naturally, the shit is burning up on YouTube...

That's it...at least for now...
