Pavement announced their reunion about a year ago and revealed this Boston date about six months ago. In the time between those announcements, it seemed like people went from being super-jazzed about the prospect of Pavement playing live shows again to seeming a little lukewarm on the whole thing.

Remember when Pavement dropped Wowee Zowee in 1995?

On the heels of Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, the band was on the fast track to indie lore, having sold a remarkable 300,000 copies in the now-foreign music landscape of the 1990s. A short year later, Wowee Zowee was released, glaringly devoid of the rhythmic pop sensibilities that defined Crooked Rain

Pavement, beloved indie rock band and fantasy sports enthusiasts, have reunited after about ten years or so. Now, as expected, they've begun announcing US dates that don't involve festivals or the Central Park Summer Stage (via Pitchfork). And these dates, unsurprisingly, will bring them here to Boston for a September 18th show at the Agganis Arena (which is kind of crazy when you think about it, but I guess that's the these things go).

The lineup for this year's installment of the Coachella music and arts festival was announced today. The headliners: Jay-Z on Friday, Muse on Saturday, and the Gorillaz on Sunday. Reunited favorites Faith No More and Pavement play on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, while chart-toppers Vampire Weekend show up on Friday.

Updating a previous item, Pavement will indeed officially be touring and playing the Central Park Summerstage on September 21, 2010. From the press release:

After years of speculation, the most important American band of the Nineties is returning to the stage with the lineup of Mark Ibold, Scott "Spiral Stairs" Kannberg, Stephen Malkmus, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West reuniting for dates around the world in 2010.

So we're just not going to have any broken-up bands left anymore at this rate, huh? Brooklyn Vegan, citing "reliable sources," is reporting that another one will un-bite the dust in 2010 when popular and influential indie rockers Pavement - who've been rumored to be reuniting since, like, 2004 - are going to slant and enchant us all once more at Central Park Summer(Babe)stage that September.
